I tend to listen to songs on loops for days on end. I suppose this trait is apart of my autism...

I've been listening to Bad Romance by Lady Gaga and Am I Wrong by Nico & Vinz for the past four days.

Depraved by Mammalia. The song escalates.

Wouldn’t normally be listening to disturbed as alongside bands like LP and soggy digestive I usually mentally categorise them as metal’s equivalent of bubblegum pop. However I like Simon and Garfunkel and was curious to see what their cover would be like.

Not bad, but is it just me or does the guy not suffer some sort of nasal malfunction around the 0:47-0:51 mark. “And the vision that was planted in my braaaiiin hrrrk”

I have Disturbed’s version in my playlist. Love it. While Simon & Garfunkel’s version is hauntingly hollow (beautiful in its own right), Draiman’s adaptation is full of emotion.

I don’t think I’ve shared this before (too lazy to check). Born in Winter by Gojira.

Difficult to hate on gojira, I mean I could probably give it a go  but alongside mastodon they’re really carrying the flag of decent mainstream metal at the moment.

I always have difficult thinking of something to share here. Most of the metal I listen to is the inaccessible kind where the lead singer sounds like a bear struggling with a major bowel movement. Also the incessant need some seem to have to inflict their taste on others is just annoyingly egotistical.

Had a think and went with Alcest, it fits with the themes of French and haunting but is also uplifting.

Well, when in Rome... 8)

I look at it a bit differently. I don’t think I’m unusual in this regard, but I strongly associate people in my life with specific music. If you’ve played a notable role in my life, it’s likely you have a designated song which captures the feeling you evoked in me. Some people have more than one - reflecting my changing sentiment about them over time. My playlist serves as a ‘audio photo album’ of sorts.

I really enjoy hearing the music that other people listen to. It gets added to the mental ‘photo album’, at least temporarily.

Thanks for the Alcest song - had not heard before.
