A safe substitute for DXM?

Postby TooConfused » Tue Oct 20, 2015 9:39 pm

I have tried many antidepressants so far. Some of them have worked partially. But the only thing that really works for me is DXM (Dextromethorphan). When I take DXM in high dosage (robotripping), besides the euphoria, I have a rush of positive thoughts and hopes. It feels like I'm experiencing the mind of a normal person for a short while, since I'm usually full of depressive thoughts. The euphoria disappears after few hours, but the positive thoughts remain there for a few days!

Now I know that it's not safe to take large doses of DXM regularly, but what are the other options? Can a psychiatrist prescribe Ketamine? Is it even safe?
