Does anybody else find it kinda ironic that the malingering forum has had no malingering posters for almost 5 years?

Or is it just me....?

12618 posts and counting in the Schizoid forum.
I don't find the lack of interest in malingering that odd. Faking illness to get out of something just doesn't seem to relate to the folks who come to Psychforums.

Once I put a termometer in front of an heater to fake a fever so I could miss classes with a justification. Does it count as malingering?

I rarely fake an illness. I might say I have a headache (I may or may not have one) when someone want me to do something, like come over, do favor, etc.

But if I feel like I am being forced into doing something I dod not want to do, I get anxiety. I start sweating, and feeling sick to my stomach. And my heart starts racing, as if getting ready for fight or flight.

I am not a very good faker, because if I forget, I will suddenly "get better"

I faked a lot to get out of going to school, and if it did not work, I would get sick for real sometimes throw up at school.

But as soon as my mother said I can stay home, it seems like I was up and well again, because the bus already came, and she could not drive me to school, so I was relieved.

So, a lot of my sickness is caused by my mind, and it's not just in my mind, I have the physical symptoms.

I can remember times when my mother threatened to poison me when I was a kid, (because she accused me of doing things behind her back etc) or she may have thought I got into the medicine cabinet. I would feel nauseated just thinking about it. Especially if I ate or drank something she made.

I actually experience the symptoms with my thoughts.

(My grade school counselors said I had "emotional problems" )

Well, they would too if they had a mother like I did (God rest her soul)
