So I am reading this article
*mod edit*
Can someone for the love of GOD help me comprehend something. Why the hell do families want anything to do with Serial killers or anyone who kills others at all ? They get funerals , graves ... ashes handed out to family members ... OH MY GOD I would take those ashes and throw them into the pits of hell. You want to kill 20 people and get a funeral??? What the hell is wrong with some people. I can't even fathom why their family ( parents ) would want anything to do with these P.O.S rot in hell wastes of Earth resources. If anyone can help me comprehend this please please try.

Well, they're family; they either have good memories of the person, or feel an obligation. The deceased is still a son or daughter; or a brother or sister; or spouse.

I guess that's the thing with the whole unconditional love. Even if you absolutely abhor what they have done they're still your family and/or freinds. Anyone who does this is probably suffering from some sort of mental illness. So perhaps from those who once loved you there is that sense of compassion, not for the acts but for the person. And if you're their parent then perhaps a sense of responsiblity too. Not that they should but they did raise this person and I bet there was a time they were not monsters you see now.

A movie and or a book - We need to talk about Kevin (Lionel Shriver) kind of deals with this very thing, if you're interested. Sometimes it just isn't so black and white.

As much as they hate what their "family" did, it's still their family. If it is your son, you wouldn't remember him as a serial killer per se. In your eyes, he was once an innocent child. You would remember the giggles and the smiles. Life can be #######5 and not everyone could put it together. Not saying that I don't condemn serial killing, but if it someone you once love, you might overlook the sin and there might be guilt as well.
