Tips for staying positive and motivated

Postby Sunflower0629 » Thu Dec 12, 2019 5:07 am

This year has been absolutely the worst year in my life so many things have happened (too personal to share) but I’m really trying to go on through the day and have a good attitude that the medicine will work and that I can be happy again. Does anyone have any good tips on staying positive and motivated?

Find something to live for. Take good care of kitty. You do have a cat, right?

I tend to feel more positive if I go outside & spend time alone in nature, limit the time I spend looking at screens, & keep a gratitude journal. I set S.M.A.R.T. goals for motivation. S.M.A.R.T. is: specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, & time-based.

Oh that’s a good idea! Thank you.

It is different for everyone, but for me it sometimes helps to be around people that I know well and can hang out with (friends or family), and during this time of year sunlight is very helpful. It is difficult to get sunlight but I have to force myself to take breaks at work and go outside. I even park my car outside because it is so cold. If I can't find anyone to hang out with I will call someone. Also sometimes distractions help (not always a good idea). Like going out with family and friends or listening to happy music that is calming.

I had to try and change my self-talk. Instead of 'awfulizing' or remembering my terrible moments, I now try to tell myself that i will be OK and I will get past this. It is one day at a time.
God has brought me this far for a reason and I have to trust the path that is laid out before me.
Asking for help is a sign of strength. Too many people can't because of shame or pride and are stuck in the self-defeating routine or cycle that they have become accustomed to. They are unable to break free of the past.
Prayer helps.
Best of luck to you. :D

First of all I would like to say that you need to find a target in your life. This is very necessary as a person without an aim in his/her life can not be remain motivated for a long time. You need to follow intrinsic motivation which is related to the power within yourself.
