ECT is really helping

Postby mansnils » Wed Jan 30, 2019 10:05 am

After today's ECT treatment I'm more energetic and I have less stuck thoughts. This was my fifth ECT session. My sensory perceptions are stronger as well. I'm also less numb and less depressed. I'm really happy that it's really helping. Hopefully with more sessions I will be well enough to return to a normal life.

With more ECT sessions I am positive it could fully restore my brain to normal functioning. I'm so happy for this.

This is great news. I'm happy for everyone who has found a therapeutic outlet that is helping them.

If ECT is working for you, then stick with it. I hope you have much luck with it. May your life improve. 8)

Only 5!? Lucky. I encourage you from experience to take several more sessions. I chickened our right after I started feeling better. It was a jump start to my life and it worked. Unfortunately it’s really only a temporary fix. It’s like great for your life but not a cure unfortunately.

In an old textbook on psychiatry, I read that "10-15 or more electroshocks lead to diffuse death of nerve cells, especially in the cerebral cortex... Electric shocks usually give a short-term effect, often there is a deterioration in the state with the weighting of psycho-organic symptoms."1989. Since then, of course, much has changed. Began to use anesthesia and muscle relaxers. But what can fundamentally change in the impact of electric current on the brain?
