Vegan butter (and some margarine) is made from oil, water, salt, and pea protein. I fail to see how this is "barely food". Not to mention butter has more calories, more fat, and unlike margarine, is loaded with cholesterol. For a person with high cholesterol, margarine would be the better option. Plus, it is cruelty free.

Note: Neither of them are healthy and should be used in moderation.

OT: I last bought a medium hazelnut coffee with almond milk.

Margarines are produced by extraction of oil seed seeds with different solvents. Hexane or benzene is used in extraction. Grease raw materials are treated with phosphoric acid and neutralized with lye. Subsequently, the raw material of the fat is bleached and the so-called deodorization removes the unpleasant smell, taste, and most of the solvent residue. The fat is then cured by adding hydrogen atoms and nickel to the fatty molecule. Thus, the fats become more saturated in structure, i.e. firmer at room temperature.

Especially after having read this, I've stayed the hell away from margarine. These processes are thought to be the cause of so many generalized food allergies because the body doesn't know how to deal with ingredients that have gone through all of this. My child had bad allergies - inherited from my bf's side. And I probably experienced some kind of nervous breakdown from all the lack of sleep we had to go through. The only thing I could think of was wish I could take the child's pain away. Soy especially was the worst thing we could think of!

I've been sticking with my diet - with as little additives as possible, meaning butter and cream for about 8 years now. And I'm feeling great, my BMI is 19 and cholesterol levels are excellent, all four of them cholesterol, Ldl, Hdl, and triglycerides.

Admittedly, I don't exactly know how all the vegan products are manufactured. But some of the textures seem unnatural and they wouldn't pass my screening.

But it all depends on what each of us chooses to emphasize in our diet.

I would have been if I was not triggered by someone's words about my lifestyle. And not just attacked here, but in other forums as well. But I am sorry for my rant.

That being said, I will not write what I bought last because I don't want anyone else making snarky remarks about my lifestyle. Which has happened by not just one person, but 3. Not to mention I was once called a "bitch" in this forum, which was unrelated to my recent tangent.
