Calming down when it matters

Postby Dulcet » Tue Jun 07, 2016 11:31 pm

I get random freak outs - they're completely psychotic and inappropriate - but should someone come along (the cops or something) who cannot see it - I calm down immediately and usually manage to make the other person look insane, or at minimum, myself sympathetic. Do you all do this? I'm working out my diagnosis a little bit. Can you calm down if it matters?

I am trying to learn all I can about the different disorders as my 18 yo son has been "diagnosed" with depression. In my opinion, it is so much more than that. He is able to calm down when it matters. We often visit his psychologist together as my son wants me there during most of his visits because our relationship is one of the main things that has suffered. I really like and appreciate the psychologist, but one thing I don't agree with is that he says since my son can "turn it off", he doesn't feel like he is as troubled as I witness on a regular basis.
