New Member with Question re: Is this a form of Parasominia?

Postby ApneaSufferer » Sat Jan 18, 2020 4:44 pm

Good morning. I have just found your website after days of searching for an answer about an activity I do as I sleep. I am a 58 year old female with severe sleep apnea. Currently being treated again after 7 years, with very poor results to date. With the help of another forum things are looking up a bit.

However, one thing they have not been able to figure out is the following:

When I am sleeping I will suddenly sit upright, usually with my head slumped forward, cross legged. I will stay this way for as long as an hour sometimes. We are unable to determine if this is a result of a breathing issue or not. It has been suggested I look into PARASOMINIA. So far, I believe I may have found that this action I do is similar to Sleep Walking in some manner.

However, I can not find, at least by using Google, anyone with a definitive answer to this question. I have tried to contact sleep organizations with no success. My sleep doctor has so far not addressed this issue with me when I bring it up. I have a follow up appointment with him, as well as a psych appointment, and I would like as much information as i can gather so that I know what to discuss.

Does anyone have any information on this annoying action?

Respectfully,
