Have you exercised today?

Postby thegentlepath » Fri Oct 02, 2020 4:59 pm

I walked up the hill behind our house today. I want to do some form of exercise for 30 minutes, 5 times a week. I automatically exercise when my bike works because I like riding my bike. I don’t like walking. It makes me feel better though. Exercise is my priority for October.

I’ll exercise in the morning after my morning routine: coffee, tea, & smoke. Then exercise. If I can’t leave the house, I’ll hula hoop in the yard. The other humans like it when I hula hoop, so, brownie points. But my #2 exercise if my bike isn’t working will be to walk up the hill.

October morning routine:
Coffee, tea, smoke, exercise, breakfast 5x a week.
Coffee, tea, breakfast, volunteer, smoke 2x a week.

If I’m stuck inside, I have a book of body weight exercises I can use... :|

3rd day in a row walking up the hill behind the house as part of my morning routine. I was angry earlier. A family member triggered me. I think I’m having a traumatic stress reaction. I’m learning more about trauma in addition to walking & signing up for therapy.

I like this thread !

My morning routine is usually : coffee , smoke , check my e-mail and browse the web before I leave for work . It would probably help a lot if I stuck 5-10 minutes of stretches in there somewhere .

I like to walk and I try do it after work . It isn't consistent though . Especially once it gets cold . :?

Thanks for joining me NSR. :) I’ve been walking every morning on the days I don’t volunteer. It takes the edge off a little.

I took my walk in the rain today. I have waterproof walking shoes & umbrella. Thought of a possible solution to one of my problems. That’s one benefit of exercise: improved cognition. I didn’t realize how sedentary I’d become.

Hope you don't mind another poster :D

I've done some walking and cleaning today. Not as much as I should but better than nothing.

Ah , the joys of getting older .

I'm trying some of the McKenzie exercises for my wonky lumbar disc . They seem to help a bit but it's early days . I'm also seeing a chiropractor . The upside is that he's a 2 minute walk from my house . The ( possible ) downside is that he seems to be more of a Kinesiologist .

He does lots of muscle-related work on me . I mean , it helps in the moment but I don't believe it's correcting anything . I'm 95% sure I have a slipped or bulging disc . This was the determination of a PT a couple years ago . It comes and goes but when it comes , it's really painful for a few months .

Sigh . I really miss my old chiropractor . He closed his business last year and he was so good . He moved bones around . Things crunched and popped . After 3 months of weekly sessions , it was as if the problem never existed . I'll probably give this new guy until the end of the month and then look for a different practice . Not really happy about that though .

Anyway , off for my walk before the rain starts up again .

Thanks for joining us weepingwillow. :) I also have back issues in the form of scoliosis. It’s not too bad but if I’m not careful, my back will spasm for days. I’ve been meaning to get into planking to strengthen my core. One of these days.

I took my walk after volunteering today. I just needed it to clear my head. My thinking always improves as a result & I need that.

I've been kind of falling in love with Bob and Brad , the physical therapists on you-tube . They have a rather oddly endearing jingle at the beginning of their videos . It pops up in my head at random times and makes me smile . I started doing some of the moves they recommend for back pain and it seems to be helping .
