Congrats PcZ on your achievement.
I envy you (in a good way).

If I had done that, maybe in my work life, i could have progressed more and other areas in my life including my financial.

I did gamble again today. I feel like I got nothing to say here now. A feeling of emptiness, in a way.
I wish I could turn back time, but then it is not possible at all.

So, I'm not broke yet, although I'm in debt. But seems like I don't want blow off some cash which I still have since Christmas is around the corner and the new year is ahead.

I need to do some serious thinking, if I would totally want to quit gambling. I'm starting in a new job next month (new year). Not getting younger. I need to buck up, just that why can't I quit this habit.

Congratulations RicardoG and may I say , I'm so proud of how far you've come .

I don't know why the forum is so quiet lately . I can only hope that with the pandemic keeping people at home and out of the casinos and bookmakers , that just maybe some folks have taken this opportunity to remove gambling from their lives .

I wish you a lifetime of gamble-free milestones !

Hi NSR, it is always good to hear from you.
Yeah, it has been pretty quiet here. And frankly I'm quite surprised myself.

Anyway, I have manage to stay away from online betting so far, but weekend soccer games are in full swing this weekend. To stay away, I will just keep reminding myself that soccer match are not guaranteed win.
The ball is round, you don't have the same set of players in every team, red card happens, injury happens, bad decision happens.

I have letdown my ownself with soccer gambling just now.
My selection is losing.

I don't feel remorseful, but I feel a bit down.

I need to reread my past post to reaffirm a decision which I want to make now.
I'm announcing my divorce from gambling permanently.

Hey Ricardo,

We all know what you are going through. Sometimes we say "That's it. That is the last bet I am going to place", yet we find ourselves placing a bet later that day. Our resolve can keep us away for a few hours, but then the withdrawal kicks in. That is simply due to the fact we have hardwired this behavior into our being for so many years. That cycle is difficult to overcome.

This doesn't mean we are destined to face these struggles every single time. You know (since you have had long stretches of gf) as well as I know, that it get easier as you put more days between you and your last bet.

Lets start with today and make the rest of the day gamble free! Do not chase!

Hi Aries,
Thanks for your posting and I appreciate it.
It has been quiet here, am quite surprised.

Btw, I woke up feeling lousy this morning. I guess it is the withdrawal symptoms.
I managed to stay away from soccer betting yesterday, although I did check the scores this morning ( I shouldn't be doing that).

I have to keep my mind away from online betting. I'm going to delete later all the evidence or traces of it.

Day 1 of GF completed, entering Day 2.

Day 8 of GF.

I feel much better now. Been busy with Christmas celebration lately. Btw, Merry Christmas 2020 and a Happy New Year 2021.

I was tempted to see the match fixtures on the evening of Christmas day, but then I said a prayer and slept.
I'm on leave currently, so I guess I have to keep myself occupied with positive thoughts.
I do think of my current bad finance situation, but I strongly put it in my mind that winning in gambling is not a solution to the problem of my finances.
In fact, it was because of this bad habit that I'm currently in this state. I seriously have to put an end to this habit permanently. A full stop or a permanent "divorce".

You can do this RicardoG ,

It might help if you go back and read some of your old posts . I keep myself in check by reading some of my own and I always come away feeling stronger and telling myself " I am never going back to that place again . "

Your previous GF time will serve you well now . You can recognize the lies and the false promises that the addiction uses to try and lure you back into the trap .

Be strong ! We're rooting for you . :D

Thanks NSR.

I'm quite happy to see a note or reply from either you or Aries.

Yes, thanks for your support. It means a lot.
I wanted to read my previous posts, and I didn't delay after seeing your message here.

Here lies a great repository of feedback sharing advices on being GF. But I'm quite surprised why it is extremely silent in here. Either many have not discovered this site, or people knows how to be GF already.

I will continue posting in an own thread that I created, so that it can be my single point of journaling or sharing my thought/experience while on the recovery process.
