Well done HP !

I have found that the longer I stay GF , the more understanding I have about myself and the path that led to my addiction . As my recovery journey has progressed , it's become important to me to ask myself " Why ? " when I get renewed urges to gamble . I don't always have an easy answer but I keep asking the question until I have some idea of what could be triggering me .

This is leaps and bounds away from the days when I just did what the urge compelled me to , no questions asked ( except " Why can't I stop ? " ).

You are just around the corner from your 6 month milestone ! I am so looking forward to joining your victory celebration on that day !

Today is the new day I will stop gambling. I will remember it as 02/07/2019. Its special to me and I hope to come back in five years time and reflect on my success. I will continue to post as the days go by. Wish me luck!

Yes you will celebrate.
I wish you all the luck in the world to overcome the hard times because it's not going to be easy to rewire your brain. But you will do it.
Stay strong

Welcome Todayistheday !

Overcoming this addiction is one of the hardest , longest and most satisfying battles you'll ever fight . It's more than just quitting gambling - it's taking back control of your life against a mindless impulse that's harming us financially and spiritually . We will back you all the way on this journey . We're all on it together .

Welcome back BillyHope !

It's great to see you back on the forum and still fighting . You did it once and you can do it again . This time around , you know what you need to do and the traps you need to avoid .
That 9 months has not been erased or made meaningless . It's still something to remember , learn from and be proud of . You can reach that milestone again and pass it like it's standing still .

Thanks @NewSunRising - you're damn right :)

7 days today!

Not feeling the urge to gamble anymore, but I play a lot of shooting games lately to cover the missing adrenaline.

I have updated it. Its a scene from Mr. Robot about the society. One of my views about society that was posted two years ago and it has changed a bit since.

Society today doesn't care. Its all about money.

Its in casino, social media, day to day life - you name it. Money is what makes the world go round. And its painful to see this. People are getting famous and rich for no reasons. There are people that are trying to find the cancer cure and people are donating money to Kylie Jenner to be the first billionaire?F*ck society.

Though my view is a bit different now, the essence is the same. If Casinos would care about their customers, they wouldn't let them gamble on high limits. Or, they would decline their access after loosing a certain amount of cash. Or they would make them attend a GA meeting before coming again. And the list can continue. The society that we live in is corrupted by money.

Hugs , TSL .

I have had so many Day Ones and I know how much it hurts to be there . But I also know how much strength it takes to make yourself try again . It's so much easier to just give up and and believe that we're doomed somehow to the slavery of this addiction , that it's simply too hard to break free .

Those are the lies of the addiction . The voice in our heads is constant , insistent and demanding . It's exhausting and demoralizing . But we cannot just lie down and accept defeat . We cannot let our lives be ruled by a parasite that only seeks to keep itself alive at any cost .

You have the knowledge and you have the power . In the worst moments of your battle , know that this thing can be beaten . You can reclaim that previous milestone , surpass it and take back your life.

You know in your heart that there is no other choice but to fight .
