Food addiction is, quite simply, being addicted to junk food in the same way as drug addicts are addicted to drugs.
Food addiction is a relatively new (and controversial) term and there are no good statistics available on how common it is.
This is very similar to several other eating disorders, including binge eating disorder, bulimia, compulsive overeating and having an “unhealthy” relationship with food.

Food addiction is really a very serious problem. Someone doesn’t just decide that he or she wants to feel out of control with food. It’s often a slippery slope that leads a person into an addiction with food. Recovering from a food addiction is very difficult and must follow a process to overcome from it.

Hi! Have you tried availing services of a dietitian or perhaps a nutritionist?
I wouldn't go as far to say that I was addicted to food, but I remember that It almost got out of control for a while. I was unable to go to the gym as well due to my work commitments. So finally I decided to go to a dietitian , I was charted a diet to strictly follow. Even though it took time getting used to, I was able to overcome my craving for junk and ended up shedding quite a lot of pounds in the process!
Hope this helped.
Cheers.
