Faking symptoms of alcohol withdrawal

Hi all, some advice would be greatly appreciated. I've abused alcohol for a number of years and I'm slowly recovering however I've also faked symptoms of alcohol withdrawal to numerous doctors and nurses to obtain benzodiazepines. Does this mean I have Factitious Disorder or am I just an addict?

Sorry that my initial response was so vague, I just thought I'd give you a quick reply because no one was answering you.

Factitious disorder (FD) is an umbrella category that covers a group of mental disturbances in which patients intentionally act physically or mentally ill without obvious benefits.

The patient is intentionally producing or pretending to have physical or psychological symptoms or signs of illness.
The patient's motivation is to assume the role of a sick person.
There are no external motives (as in malingering) that explain the behavior.

Since your intention is to obtain benzos, this seems more fitting. It's more like a term for a certain type of behavior than an actual diagnosis though.
