Caffeine is bad for Dysthymia?

Postby HopeU » Wed May 08, 2013 1:35 am

Is it possible that poor appetite, insomnia, and low mood can all be aggravated by excessive amounts of Caffeine and make Dysthymia worse? I've suspected this for a while and I drink what I would consider an ample amount of Coffee every day and I think it actually makes my Dysthymia worse. Does anyone think limiting my coffee intake would make a difference?

Last thing I read about caffeine was a study saying it reduces chance of skin cancer.

Article n study here suggests there's no correlation between caffeine use and dysthymia. Lot of related info about caffeine as well:

I see this post is really old but regardless, its funny you mention this because I was diagnosed with Dysthymia over 3 years ago & couple months ago caffiene was doing wonders for me in my life, it increased my energy, uplifted me, & made me feel really good, then in short, it stopped working after 2-3 months & my life has been back to 90% lows & feeling all the symptoms of Dysthymia, not saying you should take it but try it. I read somewhere that caffiene used to be used as an anti depressant (& that some people still do use it as one)
