Alters & inner world disappearing

Postby woodreus18 » Sat May 26, 2012 2:35 pm

Is it possible that all alters & the inner world suddenly disappear unexpectedly? I mean, without the hypnotizing therapy of integration, and without any suggestion of integration or something like that, how can alters and inner world suddenly disappear?

Thank you~!!

Sorry, I wish it were that easy.

Angela is my 15-ish yr. old controller. Anytime we felt worried or fearful, she would take over and make sure that she steered the boat, an attempt to calm the waters with her stoic demeanor and her consistent resistance. When the reality of the Dx first hit, she came out - and stayed out - for nearly a year, insisting all the while that the others have died. When my then T assured her that she was "confident" that the others did not die, Angela would insist that they 'took off then, 'cuz they're nowhere to be found'.

I wish that things could be as easy as you seem to be hoping them to be. I would love that for your system - for all of ours. Just not so. And, I don't know what " the hypnotizing therapy of integration" is but there is only one way through this healing process & I can promise you, if there were a magic wand, I would have found it.

Good luck.

Is that what's happening to you? Sometimes integration can happen without therapy, though rarely. Alters can also go into hiding.

Pretty sure you would know if any actual integration were happening because you would feel the presence of your alters along with you (assuming the integration was with the host and you're the host). You would have access to their personality, emotions, thoughts and memories to some extent though probably not all of that instantaneously.

From my reading and experience, it's extremely unlikely for alters to simply disappear, especially all of them. They can hide or go away for a while, but they're still part of your mind. If an alter is very fragmentary, I think it's possible for them or your system to feel that alter's work is done and they might be absorbed or integrated into another alter. But each system is unique so I suppose anything is possible.

As for the inner world, I think it probably would eventually disappear with integration. I might have some insight in this or maybe it's just our quirk. Something did shift for my inner world last fall. My "inside" was never highly developed visually but it was definitely a large place. It hasn't gone away but its went from a vast place where you could go and not be aware of the world to a smaller space where you're always somewhat aware of the outside. I don't know what it's like subjectively for the younger alters, but the older ones and I feel like we're all much closer together now and always "awake."

So there's no longer a place to escape to. The ability to dissociate is still there, but it's maybe 10% of what it was a year ago. We were very aware that the change was happening and it was not a conscious decision at all, though we do know the catalyst.

We've discovered three alters since this change so I'm not sure "where" they were but each of those situations was different.

I have no experience to add to this but am just wondering how you are? Are you concerned that your alters or inner world will disappear with no warning and this is causing anxiety for you or them? Or does it feel like this has happened already? Are you wanting it to? Are you happy or sad or scared?

I was concerned that this may happen with my son's alters - partly because they feel just as much part of my family and I didn't know if so-n-so shares their memory/trauma and feels reconciled, will they just 'cease'? but I believe and feel that this cannot happen without conscious agreement/decision/notification to the host and that when/if that decision is made - the host feels more...full/complete/aware or peaceful because of the combining of memory, emotion, etc this alter gave them...

I hope you are well and that you have found your answer!

Thank you very much for all of you~!!

I realize this phenomenon has happened on my friend's system. I am wondering whether it is a good or bad thing. I'm willing to find out the possible reasons thus i posted this question. I am now still thinking about it. Anyway, again, thank you very much~!! :)

Usually when the host reports the inner world has disappeared, the host has been locked out. Usually this is temporary. It can be a good thing: work may be underway inside.

I have not read the other posts, but this is what I have experience with:
I have worked hard on trying to integrate, so this may not be what is going on with you, but you don't have to want integration to get it. The brain WILL work to be healthy. If you are moving toward health you could integrate. I have not had an formal therapy, hypnosis or trauma processing.

If you do not have good communication between parts this could all be confusing and it can also happen without you even knowing. I imagine it could seem as if things are just disappearing.

This is just a very quick summary. If you want to see more then I just need your email and I can add you to the list to read my blog.

1. We solved many internal problems - Mostly Fight Protectors found their purpose!
2. This began a chain reaction of reorganization
3. Understand that I have NOT processed trauma memory yet. My Fight Protectors would not allow it.
4. All Alters lost their bodies and all things in the internal world were just gone!
5. All those parts now look like one giant ball of glowing lights - multicolored - this is described by the 4 ISH's..
6. Those alters ALL report extreme JOY! A bit of fear of the unknown but they are all together and closer than ever! They feel GOOD! Each Alter is still very separate though. They can still take over and I still loose time or can be co-anything.
7. None of these parts were joined with me yet.
8. I have 4 ISH's that joined together, but they too are still separate and can answer and function separate, but now they are together and FAR STRONGER and feel GREAT!!! These 4 ISH's were 4 bright white lights that went different places, now they are ONE bright light that travels together.
9. The next step was/is for Alters to join with me. I have over 300 of them and they are joining with me in 2's. They must find the right part to do what we call - make the jump - with. It's not a part they have needed for other things before. They only can jump so far while I sleep. I am exhausted. This is kicking my butt! just like any of the other re-organization has done.
10. Those in the big ball of multicolored lights described me as a dark, round cell. Something like a red blood cell only darker - but hollowish in the middle like a RBC. The first several Alters that joined with me stacked up one on top of the other. Then they started to make a more roundish figure - like a blastula.
11. Hope jumped first - she reassured others that it is a wonderful place to be. Since then they find their pair, and wait in line until they can jump. It's been interesting to say the least. Those with me still do not have a body.

*Prior to this. I did not have a body. The 4 ISH's did not have a body. ALL Alters did!

I hope this helps. I will start a new thread with this so that those with questions don't take this thread off track.

I had several alters integrate because they realized they were not "needed" any more. there were no talks of integration before this. At some point they just stopped coming out. ISH told me they were integrated later

this was not a complete disappearance of the inner world (which I thought back then), but a temporary quiet time

In my understanding, alters can either be integrated or dissapear. But how can they all be integrated during 10 hours period? Because I do happen to have someone very close to me. This person reached a point when she tought she woud loose her minds. In her own words, she confrionted the administrator of them all to a final fight. She reached this point because she was doing things with her life wich her administrator didn't agree with. After this final fight she said they were all gone. This made e very suspicious, because I alays tought that total integration will never be possible, that did is just something you got to learn to live with and if situations occur that are a bit tough, you got to struggle to be "normal". Is it possible that the other personalities are in hiding? Or worse, is it possible that this personality isn't the core personality? It's worth mentioning that the administrator could act just like the core personality when the situation asked, I've seen it with my own eyes. Also, what worries me is that from time to time big chunks of memories dissapear. Like, all that she ever learned for her biology exam to get into college. Or all the english she learned over the years, and she knew english at a very high level[we're from eastern Europe].
Can you give me some insights? It's very hard to get proper valid informations because in our area we haven't got lots of doctors specialised in this field.
