There are informative websites too!

This one https://did-research.org/ is based a lot on the Haunted Self and adds a fudgeton of bibliography on other, DID related subjects that are not talked about in the Haunted Self.

This blog https://www.dis-sos.com/ is very informative too. Though most of this board already know about it ;)

The books by Alice Miller are short and talk about childhood trauma. She also takes examples of famous people from the past to illustrate her books.

Pay attention though because she explains everything through childhood trauma, even things that can stem from other or multiple sources (such as Nietzche's rheumatisms) so, take what she writes with a grain of salt. Some of her analysis are still interesting though.

The ambiguous loss of post-integration : a theoretical analysis of the effects of integration on clients with dissociative identitydisorder

Abstract wrote:Although undergoing integration treatment and achieving intrapsychic integration is
widely considered an unmitigated positive outcome for individuals diagnosed with dissociative
identity disorder, the literature suggests that integration, which may include experiences or
perceptions of loss, may be an outcome of far more complicated and varied resonance than is
generally acknowledged. This theoretical study examines this little-examined element of the
treatment outcome—the phenomenon of an individual’s experience or perception of loss
following integration treatment. The phenomenon is analyzed through two theoretical frames:
(1) ambiguous loss theory, a conceptual framework developed by Pauline Boss to explain the
experiences of arrested grief and unclear loss that often arise in conditions wherein a loved one is
physically absent but psychologically present or physically present but psychologically absent
(Boss, 1999); (2) a Foucauldian discursive analytic (2006 [1961]), through which the shifting
discourse of DID classification and treatment are traced in order to de-center the predominant
taken-for-granted discourse of DID and highlight the varied subjective experiences of post-
integration. In so doing, this analysis aims to widen the discourse of DID such that it becomes
more inclusive and reflective of a multiplicity of perceptions, experiences and conceptualizations
of DID and integration treatment, thereby shifting the discourse away from the prevailing
understanding of the phenomenology and treatment of DID, in which intrapsychic integration is
widely considered to be a preferred treatment outcome with wholly positive effects.

DISSERTATION ABOUT THE THERAPIST-PATIENT RELATIONSHIP WHEN THE PATIENT DISSOCIATES

Do You Know What I Know? Examining the Therapist's Internal Experience when a Patient Dissociates in Session (2013) by Jacqueline R. Strait

There is rich theoretical literature that cites the importance of the therapist’s use of self as a way of knowing, especially in cases where a patient has been severely traumatized in early life. There is limited empirical research that explores the in-session experience of therapists working with traumatized patients in order to support these claims. This study employed a qualitative design to explore a therapist’s internal experience when a patient dissociates in session. The aim of this study was to further develop the theoretical construct of dissociative attunement to explain the way that therapist and patient engage in a nonverbal process of synchronicity that has the potential to communicate dissociated images, affect or somatosensory experiences by way of the therapist’s internal experience. Findings revealed that therapists have strong emotional and behavioral responses to a patient’s dissociation in session, which include anxiety, feelings of aloneness, retreat into one’s own subjectivity and alternating patterns of hyperarousal and mutual dissociation. Findings also revealed that the process of dissociative attunement is at play when a patient dissociates in session. The process of dissociative attunement was comprised of seven component parts: Disjunction and Connection, Perception of Nonverbal Cues, Induced Feeling, Therapist as Placeholder, Asymmetry of Roles and Responsibility in the Dyad, Containment, and Therapist Imaginings. Findings imply that a patient’s dissociation in session should be considered an interpersonal phenomenon that holds the potential to communicate important aspects of the patient’s affective experience and needs through examination of the therapist’s internal experiences.
