This pesky “and also” thing comes up a lot in DID! It would be so much simpler to just keep thinking of things as “either-or,” “black-and-white,” “all or nothing,” etc. :?

unfortunately with an autistic system black and white is often the only view! ...understanding there are 'many shades of grey in between' can be a challenging concept to grasp!

We'd also like to thank David @ArbreMonde for his thoughtful explanation. David, you said it much better than we could have.

Phoenix, we hope that this puts your concerns to rest. We have quite a number of online friends who live with both DID/OSDD and autism, so we know that black-and-white thinking may factor in. And it's a challenge for everyone, whether autistic or allistic, to balance out our own perspective with the perspectives of others.

We're glad that we cal talk about this with everyone. Thanks.

we have recently discovered that we are ASD, which has both explained a lot and added to the overall confusion. it's a bit of a unique situation.
