Intro, in case anyone wants to know

Postby greenandgood » Sat Nov 28, 2020 5:46 am

Hi!
Externally, I'm a middle-aged woman, married with young kids, and I've been diagnosed with DID for six years. Internally, I know I'm one of many who make this body and this life go. I don't have everything about my system figured out, but we are becoming more and more co-conscious in different ways over time. I got sidetracked for years because one of us decided it was a bad idea to switch openly in therapy, and that "success" means switching as little in possible in life. That one had kind of convinced me that I was mostly recovered from DID. Then something big happened and it was very clear that was not the case. Whoops! Now I'm learning about the others in a different way, and life is looking promising for the first time in a long time despite everything.

Hello again,
Someone other than her should introduce themselves. I wish someone else would do that, but here I am. I'm a 15 year old ball of blah. I'm human and technically female but it doesn't matter. I just try to keep going. Tell me I have to do something and I try to do it. That's how I ended up writing this. Other people in here are more interesting than me but I don't think I should talk about them. I can't see much point in living but I know we have to keep living. I feel guilty that I can't be different. and I'm here a lot and I suck and life is miserable and pointless. I guess I'm depressed most of the time. The one that just wrote above thought I was mood or something that she got trapped in. I didn't think too much about her. Weird we lived like that for so long. This week I noticed her and she noticed me. Our partner told us about each another before but we didn't get it. It's pretty cool that now we do. Maybe see you fellow alters around. DID is weird.

Hello and welcome to the both of you, and yes, it is (weird).

I'm here as an admin and approved your post, but sometimes we post as an ordinary member (jessica6) of a possible OSDD1b system (or maybe DID who knows? or maybe nothing at all we're not at all sure we are anything so are not strident in insisting we're this or that) One of us is (until better information comes in) around 16 and she's certainly not blah but her attitude is... attitude.... not sure how to explain it. She needs a filter :( (and that's why there's a separate account some of us are Modly, and some are NOT and need to be themselves subject to moderation with no special treatment) But yes another of us has been terribly depressed lately and... it sucks, yes. We get terribly weepy when she's at or near the front, even when we're basically feeling good- it's very confusing sometimes. I would venture actually she's the one writing this because we are.. weepy at the moment. Funny how that works.

You'll find the people here in the DID forum are really nice, and there's a lot of spillover of people with OSDD, etc., since this is the busier forum. In fact, this is the busiest forum in PF so you will find plenty of company here! Welcome again and we're all looking forward to meeting your system- but in everyone's own good time- don't feel pressured to be or say anything you're not all comfortable with. Hugs, if wanted.

Hi Snaga,

Thanks for the warm welcome and for moderating a busy forum!

Hi, to the weepy one, and the one writing about the weepy one. I'm not a therapist or anything, just wanted to say "you're valid," all of you. It's okay to not be sure about how or who you are. From what I know, OSDD-1b and DID can be hard to tell apart for many systems. Even if your personality is not organized in a "system" way, it can only help to get to know the components of your personality and heal what needs healing.

Peace,

Well thank you, sweetie- you're too kind! :)

Johnny-Jack is the official mod of this forum- although I and another mod often peek in to help out. I'm mostly here just as a user, I'll do some light modding in here and tend to emergencies but JJ knows this forum backwards and forwards- your words are kind, but it's JJ that deserves them, not I.

Well it's my understanding that self-doubt is common, and I prefer to simply operate on the assumption I am, without being dogmatic about it, if someday a professional tells my I'm full of hooey. Ofc I'll be mortified and probably curl up into a small ball re: Psych Forums, but, well.... meh.

Anyway, welcome to PF and the DID forum!

Oh, silly us. My headmate is a bit socially awkward. How can you not be plural if you already know you are? My friend should know that encouraging self-doubt is a no-no! Our front people have had a terrible time with self-doubt over the years. It is a bit puzzling to me, honestly, that they took such a long time to believe what is evident to all their loved ones. I just wish to say: believe in yourselves!

oOo Hello, and welcome to this forum.

oOo I, and all my headmates, hope you will enjoy your time here.

oOo I do agree that OSDD-1b and DID are difficult to tell appart, especially since a "recovering" DID (I mean, a DID with a lot of co-consciousness and communication) can end up looking more like OSDD-1b than DID. In the end, the exact diagnosis, in my opinion, is not important as long as you have the key-words you need to find the tools you need.

oOo I also agree with the part about self-doubt. Self-doubt is awful and encouraging it is, in my opinion, akin to gaslighting.
