I wish parts would stop smoking so much weed

Postby myce » Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:52 pm

The current brain configuration doesn't like it and wishes the others would quit it. It enhances dissociation which is why I/they/we like it so much, but it is dysfunctional and we can do better. After work I'm going to want to relax and smoke but let's talk about at least waiting another day before going to the dispensary. How am I going to address this self-medicating addiction behavior that I would like to change?

The smell has unpleasant associations for me, like dysfunctional families and neglect. When I first told my mom of my trauma, she blamed her negligence on the weed. #######4, my dad smoked ten times as much weed as she did and still does, I know it doesn't cause you to turn on your kids. We're a long way from resolving mom issues but at least she's trying. We want to re frame marijuana as a part of our condition, sometimes a necessary part like dissociation, but that can change. The feelings I have now could be described as "ritual abandonment," the brain cells shut down and we go away. Weed shuts us down and we go away too, but maybe we should change that behavior. Sorrow and tears.

having something else to look forward to that would relax and unwind. like a long walk. Tao chi. a luxurious hot foot soak.

maybe in the interim you could try edibles instead of smoking? work your way down from there......

only you know if cold turkey or weaning off works better for you.

we hear you and understand. we have struggle with self medicating for 20+ years. we now take regular prescription medication and that helps.

it is easier to replace a habit then stop one.

good luck and don't give up trying!!!!

Thank you. I'll try some replacement. Edibles give me a different high, less satisfying but still nice. That might help.

Depending on your nicotine intake, that might also be a good avenue to go down, if you need some substitutes. But don't get hard on yourself if you can't give it up immediately; even if you start to scale back that would be a good start. Baby steps, as it were.
