My story - Please read

Postby Cray2344 » Fri Sep 14, 2018 11:02 am

Hi,

I have had the most awful 2, 2 and a half years of my life.

To make a long story short, I have been complaining of physical symptoms to the psychiatric center in Denmark.

I went to a doctor, they took some tests and couldn't find anything so they recommended i went to a therapist.

Now I got a therapist who says they don't know what the hell is wrong with me and because i complain mostly of physical symptoms, it is hard for them to pin-point what it is.

They say doctors deal with physical symptoms but the doctor tells me to go to a therapist and the therapist recommends me to go to a doctor.

I have severe brain fog, nausea, and a sense of an auto-pilot mode.

It's hard for me to think straight.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea (which i went and researched myself) but haven't got used to the machine. I can only sleep with it for 4 hours if i take a sleeping pill.

Most of the people i saw with sleep apnea, did not have the issues that i have.

Anyway I just don't know what this is.

The only thing my therapist says is that "there is a big controversy in what dp/dr is" and he doesn't seem to have any answers.

Do any of you mostly complain about the physical symptoms? Because that's what is mostly bothering me.

Any help or input is appreciated.

Yes amongst other things we deal with regularly is brain fog fairly constantly. Also feeling like my brain is literally foggy and thoughts are hard to reach. Nausea after sleeping because I've skipped to many meals and sometimes just because. And to auto pilot a lot seems to get done without input from anyone, but u think I just don't know who.

That sounds like derealization/depersonalization

Hi Cray2344,

It sounds like your therapist doesn’t know much about dissociation if they said that. Those terms are very well-defined and agreed upon as far as a know. There is less understanding and more controversy about DID.

If you can find a therapist who specializes in dissociative disorders, that would probably be really helpful.

Just incase it is something purely physical have they checked for Hypothyroidism? Even within 'normal ranges' in the blood tests you can have hypothyroid symptoms and if they haven't already checked and it is under it can cause the brain fog. It can also affect mental health when its undetected for an ongoing period so could be the underlyng cause for any dp/dr.
