Feeling dead

Postby bellic007 » Fri Feb 21, 2020 11:54 am

I am feeling dead, like my mind has actually stopped working. I am so different from what I am 9 months before. I just want to sleep sleep and that's it. Nothing came to my mind. Like about future about past or anything. This heavy emotional numbness making me so hard to live through life. Just being fed up with life in every way. It appears so nothing empty and all.
I cannot also feel my self.
I am feeling depressed because of this. That my head feels like a cloth id's pushed inside it. And am acting so robotic and all.
I also find it difficult to recollect memories generally there is a disconnection happening.
I am detached from everything that surrounds me and I am. All by myself withdrawn to this shell. This shell keeps me from thinking of anything.

This certainly sounds like depersonalization along with some derealization. I think you've mentioned seeing therapists in previous posts, is that right? That seems like the obvious best option and you won't have been the only person a therapist has seen who has had these general experiences at some point. I know the experiences sound like some I've had although I'll admit I don't recall a lot of details about past waves of depersonalization and derealization.

Have you tried any variation of grounding techniques. Going for a walk, moving your body, touching things like plants or objects, these may help connect you at least briefly to the physical world. Also, speaking aloud (away from people) exactly what you're feeling followed by "but this will pass" or "and this is only temporary, I won't always feel like this" can help. First, because it's true and second, hearing your own voice can be reassuring and even centering.

The point is that it's a good idea to take some action, even if it feels impossible. Even without action, depersonalization will lower, at least from it's most uncomfortable manifestations. But the point is some activity that changes the being stuck.

Thanks actually I have no grounding techniques I practise. I am just ignorant about dissociation all the time. But meditation is one thing I do. Also some body movement exercises at morning. Also I talk with therapist through mobile to keep me present. Because I was dissociating a lot during day time and all.
Also I am now not watching porn and all as i think it largely affects my consciousness and thereby take away my will to control dissociation.
