I started self-harming when I was 4. It wasn't until I was an adult that memory of trauma re-surfaced. now it makes a lot of sense.
I liked what it looks like, especially when it formed drops. I was also totally numb to normal emotions and this felt relaxing. it doesn't seem so strange from the trauma perspective.

Thank you for your input birdsong87.

This aspect of myself isn't something I've ever talked about before I spoke to a therapist.

I'm starting to understand a lot about my childhood now and I'm coming to terms with the abuse that took place. I also now know that I didn't feel anything emotional and cutting myself would have been a way for me to feel something, even though I didn't understand that at the time.

I can also remember wanting to show other people my blood as well.

It fascinated me so in my mind I expected it to fascinate them as well.

I can remember people asking me how I'd done it and I can remember lying and telling them that I'd fallen in the rose bushes.
