Psychosomatic Pain..?

Postby Sadakointhesea » Sun Jul 22, 2018 7:16 pm

I have managed to quit self harming by way of cutting for about 2 months now, but quite frequently my scars will start stinging/burning as if they are fresh wounds.
This doesn't seem to correlate with any urges I feel to SH, or any emotional pain I'm feeling, it just happens at random times.
I don't think it's due to any nerve damage as the worst of my wounds were dealt with at hospital, and they didn't mention anything like that at the time, so I'm assuming the pain it's psychosomatic.

I was just curious, does anyone else experience this or anything similar??

Hi,
Its great to hear you have stopped cutting. :) Personally, two months out the only discomfort I ever experienced was from nerve damage and the way you describe it is not what I felt. It was more of a pins and needles sensation as the nerves regrow. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks Shattered Mind :) I still get urges to SH but have managed to keep them in check by distracting myself or by using good incentives as to why I should leave my arm well alone!

Hmm.. It definitely doesn't feel like pins and needles for me so that's another thing to suggest that the pain is "in my head" . I just find it really bizarre because the pain feels so real, but I know logically that there shouldn't be any pain :?

Anyway, thanks for your reply
