Memory issues with CD of a 16 year old

Postby robert » Sun Oct 15, 2006 4:06 am

Hi...Well, this is my first time doing something like this, but i just wanted to talk to people with CD and see if anyone else had problems like I do. I wasn't exactly diagnosed with CD, but my doctors think I have it, although they are not sure. I have memory issues with my CD, and thats the only symptom, I've had it for almost a year now. What happens is that every time I go to sleep,(usually for more than a few hours, sometimes less) I forget everything that happened before. But if I don't go to sleep, and I pull an all nighter, than I remember everything from the day before, untill I go to sleep. I don't remember anything from before last year, but i remember everything that happens during one day only, than when I go to sleep I forget places I've been, people I've met, everything except for basic knowledge,(like that a car is a car) and i do remember some parts of things learned in school. The only people I remember are my older and my two grandmothers, my aunt and my parents. This is really hard for me with things like school, and all I really want to is talk to people, so please leave a reply.

And thank you to all the people who have taken the time to read through this.

I haven't been on the site for a while. I have memory problems too. They come and go. I remember some things, and others I forget in a matter of minutes. When I am really bad I forget that I can't walk and will stand up to walk off and fall over. I used to be good at adding and subtracting. Now I have a book for 9-12 year olds, and I can't do basic maths. I have a diary where I have to write everything down each day what I have to do, and what I have done. I quite often even forget to do this. Sometimes I think I am still going to work (which I had to give up) and my hubby has to say no you don't have a job now. I'm 39 and I seem to know all these things (like I have given up work) but I continually think I am going. Have you been to see specialists and still going?

Hi there. I cant imagine how frustrating this must be for you. I suffer memory problems too, but only during my last 2 episodes. I was fine during the day, I thought I was absolutly fine and even did crosswords etc, but the next day I would not be able to remember anything, almost like Id been asleep the whole of the previous day. This happens for just over a week, during which people visited me but I dont remember them being there, this makes me feel quite rude even though I cant help it. I dont remember being in the ambulance or anything, its very odd. Ive been told now that it is just a progression of the symptoms, my mind is shutting down now as well as my body, which is quite scary. I was told I go on to autopilot so from the outside it seems like my brain is funtioning normally, but Im not really there at all. I hope you get a proper diagnosis soon, and if you ever need to talk to a fellow young sufferer ( Im 20, was diagnosed when I was 18) Im more than happy to talk to you.
