Blog Subject: | Circuit floor planning with circles and logic partitioning |
Using circles to optimise square circuits may seem un-intuitive. circles can definitely measure proximity better and as a result maximise interconnect efficiency even on layered chips. On a stacked chips the issue is not so much about minimal white space but communications layout efficiency. circles assisting proximity might work from work flow data and place the logic more so that heat doesn't build up as much in any specific area so white space can be used as an advantage not just something to eliminate. with flexible partitioning of the logic of the chip circles could be used to optimise the end result better. Might I note life uses similar circular like bundling and referencing in order to optimise overall collective cell form. where to start the research story might be how circular measurements can be made of small circuits and how this could assist placement. |
