Blog Subject:  Pity Party

Dont read this if you dont want to read about someone feeling sorry for themselves.

I am in a really rubbish position atm.

I am low and feeling awful with suicidal thoughts at times and some very risky plans

When I tell ppl about the risky plans I get home treatment team and it goes in my notes

My psych uses my notes to write reports for the GMC and to inform my GMC supervisor who also advises the GMC and tells me if I can work or not (not atm).

If things get worse with the GMC it could go to a fitness to practise panel hearing where I could be suspended or struck off potentially.

My family value me for my job a great deal and I feel like a failure, goodness knows what would happen if I got struck off.

If I bring up the issue of drug addiction it will go in my notes and then the GMC will become involved.

My psych does not like my therapist and thinks in addition to BP I have BPD and I need to see PD services instead. If I go I lose my trusted therapist and the GMC take a very dim view on PD. However they also take a dim view on me ignoring my psych's advice.

I dont know if I have included everything but these are some of the issues I am currently dealing with. Things would certainly be a lot easier without the GMC.

Hope all are OK

Hugs

I'm really sorry you're dealing with all this Cracked. Is there anyone else you can talk to about this, like your therapist? I know the GMC aren't making things easy, but you still need to tell someone about all you're going through. Do you think you could find out what your GMC thinks is best on the PD/pysch things?

Huge hugs. Hope you're better soon.

Thanks hon. Unfortunately the GMC are the enemy which makes everyone but my theraist the enemy which means that PD services is not a good idea as I will lose her but that means the GMC will be mad because I am ignoring my psych's advice.

Could you point out that taking your psych's advice would result in a dimmer view taken by them? That they have forced you into a no-win situation?
Or that you are in fact considering your psych's advice before making a decision? If they say otherwise, just point to us here and the blog to prove it.

Meanwhile talk to your therapist about your worries on this front and see what advice you get. Either way, I hope thing smooth out soon.

It sounds like the GMC is giving you more trouble than the military's given me. By psych, are they a psychiatrist or psychologist? Maybe your T has had to 'work the system' for people before, and could help you do the same? Idk, I'm probably off base. Anyhow; I hope you don't get yourself down for too long; I've only seen a fraction of how much you help ppl all the time. If the GMC thinks you're ''incapable'', that's their ignorance. good luck with the circle of ppl around you.

I find it really sad when a body that really is supposed to be supportive ends up making things worse. In australia, we have the department of human services, which ironically made things harder for us when my parents lost guardianship of my older sister (because she was over 18 and therefore legally an 'adult') at a time when she was very mentally ill and not in any state to make her own decisions, as my parents were finally able to get across.

Good luck cracked.
