I thought it was exceptionally thought provoking. (Nothing made me laugh.). My favorite part:

slaves of their own fictions. Such one-sidedness is always compensated psychologically by unconscious subversive tendencies. Slavery and rebellion are inseparable correlates.


That was not specifically about mental illness. And yet, seems an accurate description. The inner conflict. The pursuit of a collective normalcy while denying one's own individual pathology (normalizing it in the abstract). Self-destructive tendencies while trying to be normal. The never ending "why is it this way?"

Many things in that article struck similarly.
