Anyone feeling this way?

Postby claujar » Mon Aug 26, 2019 7:24 am

My whole life I had this personality of being clumsy, talkative, funny, positive, and distracted. People knew me and accepted me like this. Since I got diagnosed, and started medication, I totally feel like another person, i don’t joke as much as I usually do, I prefer to be on my own, and even people ask me if I’m okay, it’s like my emotions were silenced or flattened. However, it has helped me a lot on school.. so, anyone else feels like the medication changes you in some way? Thanks

Hi Claujar and welcome! It could be anything but you may want to look into the potential effects of the medication with your prescribing physician. I took Zoloft for depression many years ago and I noticed a flattened affect and other effects pretty quickly. Working with my doctor, I added another medication that helped in the short run and then changed to a different medication later. You deserve to get the treatment you need and feel like yourself.

When I take my med, Ritalin or concerta, I feel this way. I'm allowed by my pdoc to take it as needed so I only take it when needed and skip days. I don't like how it makes me feel either.
