I am concerned about my youngest son who is 10. He has a lot of behaviorial problems at school, he has a hard time concentrating and sitting still and being defiant.
At home it is so hard, but I am worried because he has started hitting the dog. He's already been to the doctor so many times, and they wanted to medicate him but I wouldn't allow it (he's only 10!). But I am really concerned and don't know if I should take him to see a counselor.
We have a lot of our own problems at home and do what we can for him. My husband has ADHD so there is a very high chance that our son has it.
What do you think I should do? I'm just so worried.

I have a neighbor whose daughter is 12 and she's been diagnosed and is on medication for ADHD. She's been on meds for several years already and also sees a therapist. On my end I can see how she can be a handful. I would highly recommend you see a professional about this and consider medication if they say so and if you agree to it. Her mom says the difference with taking her medication and not taking it makes a huge difference. She has a hard time with her. Wishing you the best.

Thanks quietgirl! I'm just concerned because I was reading about the medications that they use, and being 10 years old I don't want him on any stimulants.
We're talking about setting up an appointment with a counselor for him to see, and I'll bring that up with them then.

After talking about it with his doctor we agreed to try him on Adderal. I don't like that it's an amphetimine though.
Again, thank you for your reply, QuietGirl.
