I learned over the past month or so that bupropion (Wellbutrin) does not work for me for anxiety. It actually made it much worse. I'm in the process of tapering off and look forward to be off of it by next week. I went to a different doctor, who prescribed Lexapro. I haven't tried it yet, and haven't decided if I will. I guess I want to clear all the bupropion out of my head so that I can think straight first.

That said, many people report success with bupropion, but it absolutely doesn't agree with me.

Good luck!

Zoloft or a similar SSRI and Klonopin. Klonopin works best for me.

Wellbutrin is considered “activating”and has stimulating properties (not medical advice).

Lexapro is not activating and it has helped my anxiety, but mainly social anxiety. Zoloft was very effective for my GAD, but it pooped out on me after many, many years.

I'm on 100 mg Pristiq and 300 mg Wellbutrin, plus 1-2 mg klonopin for sleep. They work well.

However, after 6 years of this, I notice hair falling out (I'm 65). Very disappointed but I'm sure it's either the pristiq or wellbutrin.
