what pets do you got and why do you keep them?

...or dispose of them? past and present

relevance to sociopathy: the few therapeutic methods which show any success with this disorder center around getting the sociopath to form a sense of nurturing attachment. those studies done by Benjamin et al involve animal care or sports clubs.

since yall been talking about pets i figure might be worth finding out what you’ve had and why it did or didnt work out.

Some animals are cute and funny, but not enough that I'd want to take care of them.. I wouldn't feel good about using them for their amusement and then discarding them once I got bored.. It's not necessary for me.
you two are on my foe list

Most animals are worthless and not worth the time. I have not kept a pet long term in my adult life, at all.

I love snakes.
They're very independent, soothing and, due to proprioception - I'm sure, grounding.

I have two Pythons.
They're perfect and I love them.

I got my girl when she was 5 years old.
I'm the only person she didn't bite (God only knows why).
I really wanted a Boa Constrictor (they have such beautiful faces and thick and heavy bodies), but this girl needed a home and decided I was her human by not biting me.

She's not as bad now, but I still can't promise she won't try to strike someone.
She has absolutely no tolerance for bullsh1t either.
Even though she's never bitten me, if I annoy her, she does an assessment of whether or not she should be biting; I love it, it's adorable.

If when the vet had to work on her, and she was p1ssed right off before he let go of her head and neck, he'd thrust her back to me, facing me.
^
She'd stare hatefully at me, in strike position wondering if I deserved a bite, and I would empathetically exclaim in mutual outrage, "Oh, I know!!!" (anthromorphism, I know and I don't care.)

My boy is litterally the most agreeable and perfect gentleman you will ever meet.
^
He doesn't bite anyone and will say hello to strangers.
He's tolerant and forgiving and docile and never in a bad mood.
________

I dream of someday having an Alligator.

Caimans are more realistic in size, but apparently exponentially more aggressive.

_______

Dogs are wonderful animals and pets and they probably have some of the most pure souls, but I don't have the interactive and emotional capacity to be a good human to one.
________

Birds can be pretty amazing too.
They're intelligent and engaging, but again too interactive for me.

Snakes are by far my favourite animals. They're fascinating.
I'm not arguing; I'm explaining why I'm right.

I'm not interested in keeping pets to be honest but I like watching the neighbourhood cats whilst they're hunting or playing.

I've had dogs in my life but I'm a bit neglectful and I don't hold much value in them.

I like animals that have jobs like horses and working dogs and suchlike.

I'm much the same about people. If you don't work then you don't serve a purpose.

King Cobras are my favourite, although probably not a great idea for a pet. As a pet, I'd choose a python.

I'm a away from home a lot, so I can't really have one; you can't palm them off on friends like you can a dog.

I get bored with pets; if it were left to me they'd die of hunger.

That'd be a long wall. I think it's only fascist if they're Jews (the owners, not the dogs. Although they also have big noses, so maybe all dogs are Jewish. Maybe that's why ours doesn't take much of an interest in Christmas.)
I'm not arguing; I'm explaining why I'm right.
