I'm Type 8w7

I've taken this test in the past: https://www.eclecticenergies.com/enneagram/test
Took it again today and got the same result.

Type 8 - 13
Type 7 - 11.7
Type 3 - 8.4
Type 9 - 6.3

Wing 8w7 - 18.9
Wing 7w8 - 18.2
Wing 8w9 - 16.2
Wing 9w8 - 12.8
Wing 7w6 - 12.2
Wing 3w4 - 8.9
Wing 3w2 - 8.4
Wing 9w1 - 6.3

Type 8 - The Challenger https://www.eclecticenergies.com/enneagram/type8

That is definitely me. Not sure how legit all this shlt is though. I mean, it's an online test, so the accuracy is questionable. I do feel like the type 8 describes me really well though and it matches my experiences.

"Eights are self-confident, strong, and assertive. Protective, resourceful, straight-talking, and decisive, but can also be ego-centric and domineering. Eights feel they must control their environment, especially people, sometimes becoming confrontational and intimidating."

It does! 8s are cool.

Teh interwebs seems to be having difficulty deciding if I’m a 1w2 or a 2w1, for the sake of consistency I’m posting results from the same test as reaper.

You are most likely a type 1.

Taking wings into account, you seem to be a 1w2

Type 1 - 11.3
Type 2 - 10.9
Type 4 - 8.7
Type 6 - 8.7
Type 5 - 7.3
Type 9 - 0.7

Wing 1w2 - 15.8
Wing 2w1 - 15.5
Wing 4w5 - 12.4
Wing 6w5 - 12.4
Wing 1w9 - 11.7
Wing 5w4 - 11.7
Wing 5w6 - 11.7
Wing 2w3 - 10.7
Wing 4w3 - 10.4
Wing 6w7 - 9.7
Wing 9w1 - 6.4
Wing 9w8 - 1.6

I have this page bookmarked. It's been a while, but I guess I was 5w4.

Enneagram Type 5 (5w4 & 5w6): Insights for INTP & INTJ Types
By A.J. Drenth

According to the Enneagram in the Narrative Tradition, the Enneagram type 5, also known as the “Observer” or the “Investigator,” tends to self-describe as follows:

I detach from my feelings and observe rather than participate.
I hoard time, space, energy, and knowledge to myself.
I have a strong need for privacy and limit intrusions from a world that wants too much from me.
I am a minimalist.
In their book, Personality Type, Don Riso and Russ Hudson describe Fives as:

Mentally alert and curious
Able to concentrate; become deeply engrossed in whatever has captured their attention
Studious and excited by knowledge; conceptualize everything before acting
Highly independent, idiosyncratic, and open-minded.

Praise praise praise...
☆ In a world where you can be anything. Be KIND ☆

Character and Neurosis relates the enneagram to personality disorders and is quite interesting. If you are interested in the enneagram and how it might be connected to any disorder you may have, I'd suggest it as a good read

I hope not, that would be embarrassing (for me)

Is it the compliment that sounds inauthentic?

I read that when people patronize, really what they want is put their interlocutor down, but I had no conscious intention to do that...

You're a type One, Greebo.

Not a Two at your core, though you have some traits from what I know of you.

Without the test, I'd have guessed you as 1w2.

A good description of One: https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-1
This is one of my preferred sites - Enneagram Institute is internationally recognized and the late Don Riso and Russ Hudson are master teachers.

A description of 1w2: https://www.crystalknows.com/enneagram/type-1-wing-2##targetText=Enneagram%201w2%20Personality%20Traits&targetText=People%20who%20are%20type%20one,effort%20to%20make%20ethical%20choices.&targetText=They%20also%20have%20a%20natural%20desire%20to%20be%20upstanding%20and%20humane.
Not sure about this site - first time I've seen it.
