Can't answer that but Interesting question.
Which is worse. Valuing people for amoral reasons, or not valuing them at all?

Eh no. That's for _more_ empathetic people.

You're in the middle.

I think the implication salles is making is that you need to know the bad in yourself to empathise properly with it in others. Might you agree with that, Selli?

I don't agree, there's no different types of empathy reserved for different people.

The idea is only that to really understand somebody's pain you must have experienced it. We can have an idea what it might be like in some vague abstract way but without having experienced it close to home it'll never hit you in the same way.

Did you treat yourself to something yummy this week while forgetting what it feels like for all the starving people out in the world?

I don't know, Seili. I think people have different opinions on where to draw the lines. I'll make sure to listen to the video when my head isn't ringing though, I promise

Even if we were to just talk about empathy, I think that, given any arbitrary ability for empathy, that capacity for a person is increased when you share experiences with them, because you can understand it more intimately

Empathy is feeling with others, regardless of their or your background. It's not conditional, it's unconditional.
