How Do You Feel About Mothers Day / Fathers Day

Postby Reaper » Sat May 11, 2019 2:37 am

Tomorrow is Mothers day here in Australia. My daughter reminded me today and sent me some money with love, which I must say I appreciated very much, even though she was a day early.

Aside from feeling more masculine than feminine, I don't particularly feel like a mother as I believe I'm missing that nurturing instinct that defines motherhood. I personally find babies and children annoying and never really cared to spend much time with my own child growing up, but the years have grown kinder to her and she has forgiven me my shortcomings as a parent.

While browsing online I came across an article that I found both interesting and amusing:

‘Mother’s Day?’ Don’t make me laugh: Jane Caro

https://womensagenda.com.au/latest/moth ... jane-caro/

What are your thoughts on the article and on Mothers Day in general (and Fathers Day too)?

Do you do anything special for your parents on Mothers Day / Fathers Day? Why or why not?

You have a daughter, don't you? Does she feel the same way?

What's your relationship like with your parents?

She likes to give me a card but I didn't bring her up and I also don't feel like a mother.

I haven't had parents in my life for a very long time so I just don't relate to it at all.

I thought mothers day was about your mother church. I've used this on my mother many times when she's been upset at me for not calling her. I'm a horrible daughter.
I'll slip through your fingers like water.

mother's day is just another day i can demand gifts and servitude. i expect a fancy garden with a bistro set by the morning. i also expect to be thoroughly disappointed in whatever outcome these peasants create with their feeble minds. then i will save that up to complain next year, making grander demands to "make up for last year".

It means that her and I get along better now. Time has granted her a reprieve from whatever resentment she held against me.
