You're accepting the age of consent for what it is because that's what you've been taught, but if you were taught different then you would think different.

Yes, and taught based on evidence gathered, on my behalf, by a fleet of qualified people who specialise in this stuff and have monitored the effects. That and common sense built off decades of social development.

Not sure where you are, but it's 4pm in the UK. Aren't you late for hiding in a bush opposite a school somewhere?

Do you think comments like this make you look smart? :|

I said show me the evidence and all you have to say "I've worked with qualified people, blah blah blah." Yeah sure, I'll take your ######6 word for it.

When you say mentally not capable of consenting, what do you mean by that? If puberty for girls ends at age 14, then how are they not capable of understanding and consenting to sex? When I was 14, I would have loved to ###$ an older woman. Most 14 year olds know what sex is and most of them want it.

Puberty is a physical change, the age of consent is based on mental age.

It's generally accepted in the western world that 16 seems ok, although based on psychiatric evidence, some are trying to raise it to 18.

If you think it's ok at 13, then the burden of proof lies on you to prove that girls can have sex at 13 with no psychological fallout, which I doubt you can. Where's your proof?

While we're on the subject of ages of consent, how do you feel about these (UK based, adjust where necessary):

Can't drive a car until you're 17 but can fly at plane at 16.
Can buy a house at 18 but can't hire a van until you're 25.
In the US you can get married at 18 but can't drink champagne at your own wedding until you're 21.

Any of these bother you as much?

All of the above have been arrived at be people who are deemed qualified to have a valid opinion, just the same as the sex-age consent.
I'm not arguing; I'm explaining why I'm right.

The hiring of a van at 25 is so random. I wonder why is it so late. Is it to stop kids from hiring vans to steal motorbikes? Why a van. It's the same size as a car.

I'm just wondering why that's relevant. I understand that it's not good if a young girl gets pregnant with a kid from an older guy for obvious reasons, but what about oral sex and all that? It's not like it's doing any harm and if both people are enjoying it, then I really don't see an issue.

I don't agree with having any sexual contact with prepubescent children because they don't have sexual needs.

If you think it's ok at 13, then the burden of proof lies on you to prove that girls can have sex at 13 with no psychological fallout, which I doubt you can. Where's your proof?

Why would there be a psychological fallout though? What do you mean with that? Like, as in they get depressed and want to kill themselves because a guy went down on them?

Can't drive a car until you're 17 but can fly at plane at 16.

Makes no sense to me.

Can buy a house at 18 but can't hire a van until you're 25.

Again, makes no sense to me.

In the US you can get married at 18 but can't drink champagne at your own wedding until you're 21.

Not sure how I feel about that one. The legal age to drink in Canada is 19 so again, if there's scientific evidence to support these things then I'm not sure why the entire western world doesn't just adopt the same rules.

The difference between sex and alcohol is that alcohol is a mind altering substance that can physically harm your brain development.

You recognise that the brain is still developing during adolescence.

I guess we're done here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but our brains don't fully stop developing until we're about 25 years old. I suppose 25 should be the age of consent then?
