I just got out of inpatient, and I'm trying to detox from haloperidol. I severely dislike the side-effects I experience as a result, I had been having spasms and blurry vision. Anyone else who had a bad experience with haldol, which APs are you on now if any?

(Also, how do people with psychiatrists they dislike cope with said individuals? I'm ready to gut mine and paint the walls with him. Clearly inpatient did nothing for me, lol)

Are you schizophrenic or bipolar? I used to take Olanzapine as a PRN but never regularly, didn’t have any issues with it except an intensive flatness the next day. An antidepressant with some antipsychotic benefit (I take 30mg mirtazipine) seems to take care of it, so long as you do all the therapeutic stuff as well. Seroquel is overkill unless you’re type 1, but same principle applies.

When in need, reach for pepper. It's an ancient anti-psycotic, and during one phase or more, during the roman period in italy, it was worth it's weight in gold.

And everyone wanted pepper instead.
