One week on a boat in the great barrier reef scuba diving costs less than a grand. Includes a night dive with sharks. You get torches and glow sticks. All the sharks circle you and their eyes shine in the dark.

I've done a few now, and I'll keep it going. The part I'm not looking forward to is the boring bits, the theory stuff leading to exams.

Great barrier reef is a bit of a trip but you got me researching. Looks like there's a place just down the road from my hometown where it's considered a gurantee to see a tiger shark. Looks like I might can do this for my 30th this year if I can plan a visit to see family.
