Do you read?

Postby jabberwocky » Sun Sep 16, 2018 9:52 am

Was just discussing post length, verbosity, etc. with a couple of people and I started wondering who, amongst us, actually read the huge walls of text that some people write. Personally, I don't read the really long ones, if they are strewn with long quotes from different websites. That is just not interesting to me, i can google if I am interested. I DO read long posts when people are writing about themselves and their issues. I'm of the mind that it should never take more than 2 paragraphs to get your point across. Some of the people I was discussing this with feel differently.

Now I'm wondering what percentage of people on the forum actually read big walls of text. So, do you read?

I didn't read that, but I wonder why it says "I like cheese" and not "I like cats"?

Because cats are too awesome and everyone would choose that option.

Okay, I'll give you that. And I'll cooperate with your thread.

I often don't but it depends on if it sounds like it's coming straight out of a textbook or something interesting/personal. I can go to textbooks when I want to learn/know something.

I'm also kind of ADHD though.. and can't focus well on walls of texts unless it's very interesting to me.

It's a ruse to find out who here likes cheese. I plan to take over the world using cheese and i need to know who can be manipulated by an aged brie.

He's flirting with me too. I think he wants to ###$ me. I'm not sure how to feel about that.

re: OT. I will read a long post if it's not some unedited stream of consciousness drivel that goes nowhere, or was written by a fourteen year old.

Pavlov's posts are neither, but reading them feels like waiting in line. She needs to condense her ideas a bit.
