Psychopath because it means I didn’t end up developing Sociopathy through childhood abuse.

Psychopaths can come from abusive homes too, so how would you know the difference between them? I mean without a brain scan to prove anything either way.

Me personally, I just want to keep certain traits - limited empathy, low emotionality and lack of guilt and remorse. Don't need a label for that shlt.

Ok so going by the premise that psychopaths are born and sociopaths are made through abuse are psychopaths predisposed to always display anti social behavior? Like James Fallon claims to be a psychopath based on his brain scan (which is suspect) and not have the negative behavior typically associated with psycopathy? Is it possible for a psychopath to choose not to be a “bad” person given the right upbringing?

Edit; watched this a few days ago. I think its an interesting take

He says in that video that a psychopath won't hurt or kill for the pleasure of it, but that's bullshlt because many psychopaths are sadistic and what is sadism? It's gaining pleasure from inflicting pain, suffering, or humiliation on others.

Psychopaths were found to be significantly more sadistic than nonpsychopaths

Well he said pure psycopathy and pure sociopathy with no outside traits. So I imagine a psychopath could easily also have sadistic traits too but I think his point is those are traits of another disorder not caused by the psychopathy itself. Psycopathy the way he describes it is a very basic survival driven condition. Where they don’t enjoy hurting people but wouldn’t think twice about doing it if they felt it was necessary for their survival.

Anyone who actively goes out of their way to inflict pain has some deep emotional issues.

I agree, I don’t really take any pleasure in hurting people and I don’t intentionally hurt people to begin with. I do however self sabotage just like he is saying, it’s a for of self abuse that the narcissist and sociopath enjoy. It must be on a sub conscious level I’m assuming
