Are you disordered?

Postby ZombieZ » Thu Jun 14, 2018 11:01 am

I’m just curious how many people here consider themselves disordered and to what degree? Do you have issues with work, relationships, socializing, Isolation. Basically some of the basic things that indicate mental illness. To what degree would you say, on a scale of 1-5 5 being the most disordered where would you fall.

Edit; Actually I think it would e interesting to see how other people think you are disordered. So if I say I’m a 3 which is my best guess someone else could give their opinion on that. If I seem more or less disordered than I perceive myself to be. This could be informative if it doesn’t break down into a sh!tshow but let’s see.

I would say i'm disordered to a 4 out of 5, primarily because i have had successes in my life and have good potential. Otherwise i'd say a 5, because of Bipolar with antisocial traits, being homeless, relationship/work issues, isolation, drugs, legal issues etc.

I assume i come off as less disordered than that. Why wouldn't i.

I mentioned it yesterday in a post, but it's relevant here. I think my biggest 'disordered' trait, from the perspective of the one that has provided me with the most issues over the years, is that I don't recognise the depth and the longevity of how my behaviour has affected others.

I assume that others will have the same shallow effect and forget what's happened as quickly as I do.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

I too struggle to identify when i am effecting others negatively. For example the surprise when my therapist read my record and said most all the hospital staff were scared of me. Or simply people blowing up at me for reasons that i never see coming.

I quite literally need to be slapped in the face with it to recognize it's a problem.

But my disorder effects me. Hell yes, it does. In big ways.

I have problem with close relationships if they become to close to me, socially I may you be sometimes if it is something I want to do, it can cause me problems but for the most part it works out fine, isolation works good, I like to be alone but not to much isolation.

No, when you really think about your situation I’d say 4 is probably about right.

I’m putting myself at a 3 because I tend to isolate myself because I can’t stand humanity and I wish it would cease to exist at times. I have relationship problems, I have anger issues that clouds my judgement a lot but I haven’t been in trouble with the law in 10 years almost and I can manage to hold down a job. And I’ve never been committed to a psych ward although I’ve been to the ER twice with anxiety/manic like symptoms.

I am aware of when I affect other people negatively and it is a conscious choice. When it has ill consequences I might choose to deny it to myself but I am aware in the moment.

My life is pretty disordered. There are certain things that I can control and traits that I can transform to be beneficial (although I sometimes lack the will to do so) and I can take responsibility for that. However I struggle to control being in and out of psychosis, depersonalising and dissociating and when I am in those states it unravels a lot of the work that I have put in.

A 5, yeah you do seem to be dealing with a lot of factors. I would have said a 4 judging by your posts only because you seem to still be able to do some things you like to do. Like the art work. Although you have been in locked up and had a psych ward stay so I can see why you would say a 5.
