flashback and cellular memory

Postby epluribusunum » Sat Dec 04, 2010 8:45 am

I am a 55 year old male survivor of years of childhood sexual abuse by multiple male abusers, resulting in PTSD and a couple of other DSM diagnoses.

Today I had a flashback during therapy. We talked through it. That was about 10 hours ago. I still feel the sensations in my body that I felt during the flashback, where I had body contact with two of my abusers during an incident.

I can't twist or turn free of these sensations, and it's really bugging me. That's an understatement...you probably know how that goes.

That's a body memory, I think. It's ok, they do go away. You can talk about it here, it usually helps release some of that tension. Are you feeling ok?

Thanks for asking if I was OK. Later in the day I was surprised for my birthday by being treated to a massage. I had a lot of apprehension but the massage therapist was very competent and the experience of being touched was healing.
