Giving presents to your therapist

Postby Winterblue » Thu Jul 19, 2012 5:07 am

Hi guys, I've recently gained a bit of progress in therapy and want to thank my therapist by getting a gift. What are your views on this? I've read different peoples opinions on the Internet saying some therapists do accept gifts nowadays but not sure if I should risk the rejection if she refuses? It might send me backwards? I've already thanked her a million times at different stages of my ups and downs. What should I do as really want to express my gratitude. I fear another verbal thank you would not express enough thanks as I've said it before?

Do what you want to do. There are no "shoulds". Just keep in mind that you do risk the rejection as she might refuse the gift. I've been offered gifts by my clients just a few times and I accepted them because I knew they were a pure expression of gratitude with no strings attached and because they were either handmade or of very small monetary value, so I didn't feel that accepting them would compromise a professional nature of our relationships.
