Incest abuse memories coming back

Postby Toomuchsadness » Sat Jul 28, 2012 12:38 am

I thought that I had dealt with the shame, guilt, depression that comes with it, but the flood of memories is all coming back. I was sexually abused by my brother when I was a little girl. I had blocked it out until I was 49, now I'm 52. I am just sick feeling again. I think it's from the Sandusky news, maybe. Any ideas on how to get past these feelings? I don't want to see my brother because of it.

I am really sorry to hear you are struggling with this. In terms of how to work through it I think the main thing I would suggest is that you talk to a therapist. Are you having any help at all from a therapist? If not I think it would be worth looking into. Keep talking here too. An important thing to hold onto is this was not your fault and you are not to blame

Thank you. I'm not. I don't have insurance or money enough for a therapist. I was hoping I could deal withi it another way. I've never
Really "dealt" with it. Between this and my health I'm thinking about suicide more and more. I know that those feelings are not good ones but what does somebody do that doesn't have enough money to get help? Are there any books on line or ? Thanks for responding. Were you abused as a child?

There are two things you could do here.

The first thing would be to pm a mod and ask them to set up a journal here for you. That way the members here can act as a therapist to whatever you post. However bear in mind that as far as I am aware none of the members are actually therapists, so the responses might not be medically approved.

Conversely it is possible that the members will have instinctive empathy. And can tell you how they beat the problem !

You could look at what you went through and tell yourself, Look at what I survived !

From where I sit suicide is the ultimate surrender. It is effectively telling your abuser they where right. Which I have a real problem with. NO body/ child ever asked to be abused!

If we, members, can help, please ask!

How do I connect with a moderator?
I'm not sure how to start this.
Do people ever really heal from incest and sexual abuse?

Toomuchsadness, I've been where you are right now. Seeing a therapist started me on the road to recovery. I understand seeing a therapist isn't an option for you because of finances. I hope you get the help your looking for here on this forum. Is there some kind of support group in your area you can join? Maybe sitting down with others who share your pain can help. Good luck and don't give up!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks ERK71. Did you heal to where you don't have that sick feeling all the time? I have such a darkness. I'm not sure where to start to make this go away.

It's so funny to me. I know that it wasn't my fault, I was just a little girl. It just haunts me though. The feeling inside is worse than anything. I'd rather chew my own arm off.
