Please Stand Up For the Children!

Postby HappyMomAnna » Wed Oct 24, 2007 8:31 pm

It has become a story too many well meaning Adoptive Parents face...

We willingly bring children out of Foster Care and give them an Adoptive Family with the promise that we will have medical, educational and mental health support....

We do our best to love our child, and stumble along realizing our child may never grow to love us....

We seek treatment, therapy, medication, IEP's, and support.....

We do This--That--and the Other until NO ONE has another idea to offer....

and.....then we are told we have accessed the "Highest" level of treatment and the ONLY NEXT HELP will be to give our child over to the state--and terminate our parental rights!

I know of at least 5 families in the United States now left with this All or Nothing choice...we either live with the issues and don't ask for anymore help--or give up on a child who has already lost so much!

There must be a way to help these special kids that would NEVER include tossing them into the system....after all a RAD child is really only waiting to be rejected again and the mental health system seems to make that a Reality!

Please--consider what you might do to help fight for the rights of the most needy kids--those who have already lost one, two, three or more families.

I have been doing my best to help my child--I adopted her at the age of 5 she will soon be 10.... We were told yesterday the ONLY MORE there is will include termination of our parental rights! HOW could this possibly help?
Biological mother of 2--Adoptive mother of 2.

Attachment is a Process NOT an Event!
