My mother is changing, loss of judgment

My mother is only 67. In the last two years she has changed dramatically. I'm desperately worried and I don't know what to do. I don't know how to say to her that she needs to see a doctor, because any attempts to interfere in this way are met with hostility and resistence. I've started telling my brother about instances but he's just not getting what I'm telling him.

My mom has never what you ...

Does DMT help?

Hi - I'm bipolar, but I have a friend who had dementia and he's been talking lately about taking DMT (making it himself). I wonder if anyone here has done this. He feels that this drug may help him sort things out, possibly via a "spiritual experience". I'm not sure what to make of it since I have no experience with anything except a few times smoking pot (over 10 years ago).

For example, she doesn't remember cooking things she made all the time. She also doesn't remember me participating in science competitions I ranked high in or other things both my sister and me did growing up. I also was visiting her during the summer ...

My Mother, My Best Friend and Dementia

I just wanted some advice: I am an only child of a wonderful woman. My Mother is 67 and our lives have been far from easy. For the past few years, I have noticed some changes in my Mom's personality. I first noticed at my wedding, 4 years ago, that she seemed a little detached from everything: like she wasn't getting into it as much as I had thought. Since then, I've noticed that she ...

Dementia Expert for Full Work-Up?

Hi, first post. My 70 year old mother was baseline normal in December. We remember her on the floor reading the direction of a complex new board game (Christmas present) and playing it with our kids.

She unfortunately was on Ativan for decades, and unfortunately due to ignorance and a pharmacy error, was without any Ativan for a full week, which seems to have coincided in time with the start of persistent problems. She also ...

I've did some research on this and it appears that dementia symptoms is when they "forget" words or use the "wrong" words. But my mom is using the "opposite" words like when she was a cold cup of water she asks for a hot cup of water. She says "more" as "less" some examples are:"I ...
