I don't believe I was born with NPD but I do believe I was born with an anxiety disorder. A lot of my behaviour seemed oppositional but it was my response to crippling anxiety.

My mum and stepfather were both alcoholics (my stepfather died of a wet brain and my mum is still active) The word 'anxiety' was never even spoken about. You were either good or bad.

I think that if I had been brought up in a more stable environment I never would have turned NPD. Instead I would have been diagnosed with anxiety but this could never have happened because it may have exposed my mums' dysfunctionality and alcoholism.
NPD with Borderline Traits

My mum loves me. Everyone else thinks I'm a c**t

To be more specific, i think the way you express yourself has more to do with your reaction to the environment, but your basic way of thinking and processing information comes genetically.

Think about people who "have no personality". Usually they are loners, and spend their time in their own heads. This is a perfect example of someone who has had little influence by the outside world, and remains a basic product of their parents.

I wholeheartedly agree with these, and I experience this on myself.

I think Ns, like the other cluster bs except maybe Aspd, are born with a sensitive temperament, and then in the earliest years of life they experience a 'wound' that hurts them deeply.

It is said that our basic personality structure is set by age 6, so the wound usually occurs within that time frame.

I've heard that before, and I find it pretty interesting.
I had a major change in my life at age 5 that bothered me a lot.
I wonder.
