I'm very glad to here from someone who is being helped with self psychology. I have been reading many opinions about treatment of NPD. I saw that Heinz Kohut first developed self psychology for narcissism. Then I read that in the United States Albert Ellis developed Rational-Emotive Therapy (RET) for self-guided therapy. I have started reading some of his books and some books that explain his books. I think it is very interesting and sent a book to my EX, who is very hypersensitive and not apt to do therapy with a therapist. :)

hi!
i didn't understand well; your ex has pd , not you?? is it??

i ll say it again: you should send him book of heinz kohut; analysis of self (i dont know what it is called in english) if he is sceptic about therapy with therapist this is gooood start to make him more positive about help threw any therapy..

i hope that few people will not just pass by my thread, but they will really hear what i am saying; I WAS REALLY HOPELESS AND REALLY ILL, NOW I AM NEW PERSON.
NOT CHILD ANY MORE...

I am glad you are recovering. but, the pain ...could not be there as well

even if you are going to dbt classes, i hope you will try self psychology because i am certain it will really work for anyone with pd..

.........try it.. dont be sceptic...

i am sceptic too about any method, .. i mean ; i was.. but after self psychology.. life looks like it should have been from ever

and; i feel no pain, guilt, etc...

Hi, Croatia-girl:

When my EX left me for someone else, with whom she had been having an affair, I went to a therapist. I was worried I might have NPD or some PD. The therapist eventually thought I did not have a PD but did need to do some grief therapy, which I did. It was a great benefit. My therapist thought my EX might have NPD, so that is why I have been reading all about it. I do think, however, that the self psychology is good for anyone trying to achieve a balance in his or her life.
