SARI vs SSRI (Trazodone)

Anyone know anything about SARIs?
I can't seem to find a whole lot of information on them.
They are "serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitors" to be exact.

I know for a fact that I am unable to take SSRIs, but I'm not terribly sure about SARIs.

I've been so up and down and here and there and essentially out of my mind that I'm going to go ask my physician to give me Trazodone, which I'll be testing tonight as my mom takes it and thinks it would help, since I no longer sleep.
I'm also going to ask for Xanax after spending about half the day crying at work. It's unacceptable.

My shrinks may have ban me from medications, but my physician should still give me something.

Anyway...
SARIs?

Trazodone's pretty effective, or at least it was for me. There was a period of time when I wouldn't sleep for two/three days and then sleep an entire day. Trazodone helped for awhile.

The Xanax alone might help you get back into a sleeping pattern. Talk to your doc. I know very little about Xanax but I do know that drowsiness is a common side effect.

The xanax is to keep me from freaking out at work.
It's not something I've ever been able to sleep on, it just calms me down.

I took the Trazodone last night... around 11.... and woke up at 430.. I wasn't like, tired, but I laid in bed till 730 because I couldn't think of anything to do at 430 in the morning...
My mom has the waking up early problem too, but she's tired a lot...

What's another sleep aid?

That site lists a few more common ones with some info about them. They're all prescription.

There's a bunch of over-the-counter ones as well but they tend to be less useful for people used to stronger stuff. I took Tylenol Simply Sleep when I was in high school but that's pretty low grade.

Trazodone does work for sleepless nights but you pay a price for getting sleep. 150 mg or larger doses will kill any sex drive you had; plus you won't even think about it anymore. But because of it's half life you can do a 3 day free weekend and enjoy yourself on a Saturday and Sunday; again there is a price to pay, poor sleep for 3 nights.

To be honest, I don't have much of a sex drive anyway.
Lots of... static is what I call it, but my shrink calls it trauma.
I like sex, but I like SOOOOO many things more...
So it doesn't really bug me.

I just want to stop being a moody basketcase.

i take trazodone and it works wonders(sometimes)!!
i can sleep well at night.
but sadly i always feel groggy in the morning like i just wake up and i'm needing to take a 2 or 5 hour nap. that's the downer part of trazodone.
