Multiple Diagnoses

Postby justjesse » Fri Aug 10, 2012 11:43 pm

Hey, all. I was wondering, I've been diagnosed with so many things over the years, I'm starting to question all of them. I'm not sure which one to believe. All of my psychs over the years have all given me different diagnoses, and I always give the same input. It's starting to get frustrating. All the diagnoses, all the appointments, all the meds, and for what?

Any opinions? Feedback? I'd appreciate it.

Sometimes a diagnosis depends on the subjective opinion of a person, and very often a psychiatrist can make a diagnosis based upon very little. This must be very confusing for you. What have you been diagnosed with in the past, and which diagnoses do you agree or disagree with? No one knows you better than you know yourself, and it may help if you could list your symptoms, and tell a psychiatrist what you do and don't identify with.

Well, I've been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder with Psychotic Features, Social Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder with Psychotic Features, Psychosis NOS, and Borderline Personality Disorder. I guess I relate more to the Bipolar and Borderline, with some Social Anxiety mixed in. These have all been my main concerns. I'm not trying to act like I know more than a psychiatrist, don't get me wrong, I'm just confused. I'm not currently in therapy, but that's for different reasons. I plan on getting back in, though.

Thanks for the reply!

The therapy will enable you to make the changes you need to in order to ensure that you function in the best possible way.

If you feel that these two diagnoses resonate more with you than the others, making a list of your symptoms and having a list of the things you want to say to your psychiatrist will help to ensure that you get heard.
